Varicose Veins

Varicose veins, usually occurs on legs and feet, wherein the veins become gnarled and enlarged, because pressure of the whole body builds up on the veins in the lower body.

What are the causes?
Age- As a person grows older; the veins lose their elasticity and stretch as a result. Blood that needs to be flowing to the heart flows backward, making blood pool in the veins. These veins become enlarged and varicose.
Pregnancy- Pregnancy increases the volume of blood in a woman’s body, but decreases the flow of blood from the legs to your pelvis. The circulatory change is to cope the growing foetus. This enlarges veins in the legs, resulting in varicose veins.
Family History.

Appearance of bulged, twisted veins on the legs, that are dark purple or bluish in colour.
Pain in the legs after sitting or standing for a long time.
Swelling in the lower legs.
Inflammation or skin ulcer around the ankle.
Itching around one or more veins.
