Urticaria or Hives is a sudden appearance of swollen, pale red bumps on the skin, which is usually a result of body’s reaction to allergens.

What causes it?
Histamine is a chemical released from specialized cells along the skin’s blood vessels. Urticaria is caused when the blood plasma leaks out of small blood vessels in the skin, in response to the allergens.
The allergens can be:
Certain foods.
Insect stings.
Urticaria can also be caused due to thyroid, hepatitis, cancer.

Raised itchy bumps that are red or skin-coloured.
Swelling of tongue, lips or face.
Pressing the center of a red hive makes it turn white.
