A stye is a small lump, inside or outside the eyelid that can cause pain. Styes are usually visible on the surface but can appear deeper inside the eyelid.

What causes it?
Styes are caused by bacteria that live on the surface of the skin. These bacteria feed on the dead cells and tender areas of our skin, and results in a small lump.

Reddish lump inside or outside the eyelid.
A burning sensation in the eye.
Swelling around the area where the lump is formed.
